Graffiti is a snapshot of struggle and expression, but also of impermanence. It is a constant interplay between creation and environment, between presence and decay. This series captures how graffiti merges with the urban landscape of the Netherlands, breaking the rigid rhythm of concrete and stone and giving the city a different face. What is captured here may no longer exist. Statements fade, covered by new layers of paint, concrete, or time. Yet something always remains—the traces of an expression that moves to the rhythm of decay and renewal. Photography makes this moment tangible. It captures not only the raw marks and patterns but also the context in which they exist. The images mark the moment between creation and disappearance, between the one who leaves something behind and the photographer who preserves it. One impulsive and fleeting, the other deliberate and lasting.
